Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Hey Chef website, progressive web app, or mobile application, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Hey Chef.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Hey Chef account. If you are under the legal age of majority where you live, you may use Hey Chef only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree to:

• Provide accurate account information.
• Keep your sign-in information secure.
• Notify us if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
• Accept responsibility for activity performed through your account.

Permitted Use

Hey Chef is provided for personal meal planning, recipe organization, grocery planning, pantry tracking, and related household use. You may not use Hey Chef for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purposes.

Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

• Attempt to access another person's account or saved data.
• Interfere with the security, availability, or operation of Hey Chef.
• Use automated tools to overload, scrape, or abuse the service.
• Upload malicious code, harmful files, or unlawful content.
• Use Hey Chef in a way that infringes another person's intellectual-property or privacy rights.
• Reverse engineer or attempt to bypass technical protections, except where permitted by law.

Your Content

You retain responsibility for recipes, notes, meal plans, product details, images, links, and other content that you save or submit through Hey Chef. You represent that you have the right to use and store the content you provide.

You grant Hey Chef a limited right to process, store, display, and transmit your content only as needed to operate and provide the service to you.

Recipe and Product Imports

Hey Chef may help you import recipe or product information from third-party websites. Imported content may be incomplete, outdated, incorrectly formatted, or unavailable. You are responsible for reviewing imported ingredients, instructions, quantities, cooking times, product details, and source links before relying on them.

Ownership of third-party recipes, images, trademarks, and other content remains with the applicable owners. Hey Chef does not claim ownership of third-party content.

Food Safety, Allergies, and Nutrition

Hey Chef is an organizational tool and does not provide medical, dietary, nutritional, or food-safety advice. You are responsible for checking ingredients, allergens, expiration dates, storage conditions, cooking temperatures, and food safety before preparing or consuming food.

Do not rely on Hey Chef to identify every allergen, dietary restriction, contamination risk, or unsafe food condition. Seek advice from a qualified professional when appropriate.

Third-Party Websites and Services

Hey Chef may contain links to recipe websites, grocery stores, retailers, payment providers, or other third-party services. Those services are controlled by their respective owners and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

Hey Chef is not responsible for third-party content, availability, pricing, purchases, delivery, security, or business practices.

Free and Paid Features

Hey Chef may offer free features, paid memberships, subscriptions, one-time purchases, or promotional access. Prices, billing periods, included features, renewal terms, and cancellation instructions will be presented before purchase.

Purchases made through a mobile app may also be subject to the billing, cancellation, and refund rules of the applicable app store or payment provider.

Founding Chef Support

Any Founding Chef contribution or support benefit is subject to the description presented at the time of support. Unless expressly stated otherwise, support does not provide ownership, employment, partnership, voting rights, or control over Hey Chef.

Changes to Features and Availability

We may modify, add, suspend, or discontinue features when necessary to maintain, improve, secure, or operate Hey Chef. We do not guarantee that every feature, import source, or third-party integration will always remain available.

Account Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Hey Chef when reasonably necessary to address fraud, misuse, security threats, unlawful activity, repeated violations of these terms, or risks to other users or the service.

You may stop using Hey Chef at any time and may permanently delete your account through Profile → Danger Zone → Delete My Account.

Account Deletion

Deleting your account permanently removes your account and associated active Hey Chef data, including saved recipes, meal plans, shopping-list items, pantry items, and related history. This action cannot be undone.

Intellectual Property

Hey Chef, its original branding, interface, software, design, and related materials are owned by or licensed to Hey Chef and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership of Hey Chef to you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by law, Hey Chef is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or accurate.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Hey Chef and its owner will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service, including loss of data, food costs, purchasing decisions, cooking outcomes, or reliance on imported information.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, or expenses arising from your unlawful use of Hey Chef, your violation of these terms, or content you submit without the required rights or permissions.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service as Hey Chef changes. The revised date at the top of this page will indicate when the terms were most recently updated. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another law must apply.
